1st CRIMSON HUB ONLINE (the first students’ online debate meeting) was held on Tuesday, 8 DEC 2020, at 4 pm (6 pm Turkish & 5 pm Greece time). 43 students and 7 teachers from partner schools in Greece, Serbia, Turkey and Slovenia participated in this online meeting. Slovenia was a host country with a main host and moderator Marjetka Bunford Selinšek.
Our meeting was divided in three rounds:
- In the first round, students were asked to talk about advantages and disadvantages of a debate statement called “Online schooling brings more harm than benefitsײ in smaller groups of six students accompanied with a teacher.
- In the second round, while being mixed in new groups, they shared their opinion on the same topic of online schooling with new partners.
- In the third round, they were asked to introduce, justify and respond to some of their opponents’ arguments on an impromptu debate topic called “Children should get paid to go school”.
In the end, two students Mitja (SLO) & Dunja (SRB) were challenged to react on each others’ arguments of the impromptu topic publicly. Actually, the ending turned into a floor debate – multiple students shared their opinion briefly and publicly.
